Our Curricula
Every lesson on the American Digital Education platform is built on a fixed, 65-step Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) sequence grounded in six decades of cognitive science research, reviewed by multiple Ed.D.-credentialed educators before any student sees it, mapped to your state’s specific academic standards across 44,670 individual K-12 standards with 275,534 bidirectional crosswalks covering all 50 states plus DC, and assessed through a four-tier system that produces pre-to-post growth data for ESSA evidence requirements and board-level accountability reporting.
ADE’s deterministic architecture means students never interact with generative AI. Every narration, every question, every piece of feedback is pre-built, reviewed, and locked before delivery. The lesson a student receives today is the same lesson they would receive tomorrow. Once your district’s guide is loaded, every teacher sees exactly which American Digital Education lessons and assessments align to what their pacing guide says they should be teaching each week, and can review and assign them in two clicks.
K-12 Lesson Recommendations From Real Knowledge Gaps
Every lesson on the platform includes embedded check-for-understanding questions, and every course includes formative assessments. Knowledge Gaps reads the results of that work and answers the question every teacher asks: “This student is struggling. What exactly is missing, and which lesson fixes it?”
Instead of a generic report that says a student is “below grade level,” Knowledge Gaps identifies the specific academic standard the student has not yet mastered, traces it back to the foundational skill that is actually breaking down (even when that skill comes from an earlier grade), and recommends the exact lesson that teaches it. The teacher reviews the recommendation and assigns the lesson with one click.
California Attendance Recovery Program
Every absence a student accrues costs your district twice: once in lost learning, and once in lost state funding. California’s new Attendance Recovery (AR) program, effective fiscal year 2025-26, gives local educational agencies (LEAs) a lawful mechanism to recover up to the lesser of 10 days of Average Daily Attendance (ADA) or the student’s total annual absences for apportionment purposes, without altering the original attendance record.

Short-Term Independent Study
Every absence a student accrues costs your district twice: once in lost learning, and once in lost state funding. California’s short-term independent study (IS) program, strengthened by SB 153 in 2024, gives local educational agencies (LEAs) a lawful, operationally flexible mechanism to recover up to 15 days of funding per student per fiscal year for apportionment purposes.
Long-Term Independent Study
When a student will be out of the classroom for weeks or months, most districts face a hard choice: drop the student, or keep them enrolled while generating zero average daily attendance for the entire absence. Long-term independent study (Long-Term IS), defined by SB 153 as an independent study placement of 16 or more school days, is the lawful path that keeps the student enrolled, learning, and generating fundable ADA through an extended absence that would otherwise produce nothing.
