Overview: Your Curriculum Map, Made Assignable
Your district has already done the hard work of building a pacing guide: the week-by-week map of what every grade and subject should be teaching, and the standards each unit covers. American Digital Education takes that map and connects it, standard by standard, to our lesson library.
Once your district’s guide is loaded, every teacher sees exactly which American Digital Education lessons and assessments align to what their pacing guide says they should be teaching each week, and can review and assign them in two clicks.
No New Curriculum to Learn
The Pacing Guides tab works from the guide your district already approved. Teachers do not build alignments, hunt for resources, or stray from the plan your curriculum team set. They open the week, see the matching lessons and quizzes, and assign.
How It Works
Your district sends us its pacing guides
Format does not matter (a spreadsheet, a PDF export, or a document), as long as each unit lists the state standards it covers.
We load them into the system
Our team maps every standard in your guide against your state’s standards and links each unit to the American Digital Education lessons that teach those standards. Districts also receive a give-back copy of their own guide with a Supplemental Curriculum column filled in, listing the aligned American Digital Education lesson for every unit.
Your teachers see it immediately
The moment a guide is loaded, the Pacing Guides tab lights up for every teacher in your district.
For Teachers: The Pacing Guides Tab
Open Pacing Guides in your left menu, directly under Lesson Search.
Step 1 – Select your class
Your classes appear as tiles with their enrollment counts, just like in Short-Term Independent Study. Teachers see the classes they teach; district-designated Independent Study Teachers see every class in the district.
Step 2 – Select a date range
Pick a start and end date: a week, a grading period, or the whole semester.
Step 3 – Review and assign
You get one row for every unit of your pacing guide that falls in the range, in chronological order:

Every lesson and quiz name is clickable. The popup shows the description, the standard, and the prerequisite skills students need first, plus the same buttons you know from the Course Library:

- Quizzes: View Quiz, Assign Quiz, View Quiz as a Student
View as a Student
“View as a Student” shows you the genuine student experience, including taking the full assessment with feedback and results, and records nothing. Assigning works exactly as it does everywhere else: pick the class, pick the students, done.
For Administrators
- Centrally managed. Pacing guides are managed centrally, so teachers can never edit or delete them. What teachers see always matches what the district approved.
- Matched by grade and subject. Guides are matched to classes by grade level and subject, so a 6th-grade math class only ever sees the 6th-grade math guide.
- District-private. Guides are visible only inside your own district. No other district can ever see your curriculum documents.
- Refreshable alignments. As new American Digital Education lessons are published, your guide’s lesson alignments can be refreshed at any time. Ask us and we will re-run the matching, with no re-upload needed.
- Give-back CSV on request. The give-back CSV (your original guide plus the “Supplemental Curriculum” column) is available on request whenever you want to circulate the aligned version internally.
Don’t See Your Pacing Guides Yet?
If the Pacing Guides tab shows no guides for your classes, your district’s guides simply haven’t been loaded yet. Contact us and we will add them. Format does not matter, but they must include the state standards.
Once loaded, you will be able to select a class, select a date range, and see every American Digital Education lesson that aligns to the standards in your pacing guide for that date range.
Frequently Asked Questions
What format do we send our pacing guides in?
Any format works: a spreadsheet, a PDF export, or a document. The only requirement is that each unit lists the state standards it covers. Email your guides to support@americandigitaledu.com or hand them to your American Digital Education contact during onboarding.
Can teachers edit or delete pacing guides?
No. Pacing guides are managed centrally, so teachers can never edit or delete them. What teachers see always matches what the district approved.
Which teachers see which pacing guides?
Guides are matched to classes by grade level and subject, so a 6th-grade math class only ever sees the 6th-grade math guide. Teachers see the classes they teach, and district-designated Independent Study Teachers see every class in the district.
Can other districts see our curriculum documents?
